Japanese artist Yukako Sakakura has created a beautiful interpretation of Clive Christian’s Matsukita. Inspired by the unique notes and mood of the perfume, capturing its essence with her abstract and naturally inspired designs. The painting moves like the steps taken by the elegant Japanese princess that inspired the scent with a graceful yet lively colour palette.
Yukako Sakakura studied in Glasgow and is now based just outside of Tokyo, her work has been featured in Vogue.com and on the BBC. Clive Christian commissioned Yukako to create a signature piece using her unique and beautiful dream like style, with accents of flowers and in an illustrative style that speaks to the perfumes history in a contemporary style. Fusing a modern style with a classic elegance that perfectly reflects our reimagining of this perfume from the 1800’s.
“ To me, flowers represent emotions. From early buds to late blooms, whether crushed or blossoming, I depict them in the same way that I might depict the inner world of a person. In the work, You Close Your Eyes to See Our Spring, it is as if we hear the voices of the flowers’ hearts speaking in harmony, intermingled with the waves of the bold brush marks in my imaginary abstract landscape inspired by Matsukita.” YUKAKO SAKAKURA
An infamous Crown Perfumery Company perfume first created in 1892. Inspired by a fabled Japanese princess who awed the Victorian royal court with her elegance and grace this perfume was heavily advertised with hand painted illustrations during the late 1800’s. Today, Matsukita has been reimagined to capture this illusive elegance. With a fresh and invigorating top of green bergamot, pink pepper and a hint of nutmeg delving into a floral and woody heart of Chinese imperial jasmine with smokey black tea; a base of ambers, whispering musks and resinous woods give a warm and sensual finish. A sense of mystery and grace is captured in this unique new perfume.
Exquisite green bergamot meets sparkling pink pepper and spicy nutmeg for a fresh and invigorating top.
A floral and smokey heart is revealed by delicate Chinese imperial jasmine and mate tea. Hints of jasmin sambac and guaiac oil complements woody tones for a sensual and elegant feel on the skin.
Rich amber, fir balsam absolute and whispering musks form a sensual and warm finish for a mysterious and complex fragrance.
An Oriental perfume that is understated yet distinctive. The base notes of precious 50 year-old Indian sandalwood, powdery musk and vetiver add a rich warmth, enveloping the wearer in a balmy veil of fragrance.
Elaborately crafted woody floral captured beautifully in a deep creation blended from dry amber cedarwood and vintage rose
